Limenih Taddese, the popular and veteran Ethiopian comedian, has reportedly died this morning in Addis Abeba.

Limenih was in the U.S. for many years before he returned home few years ago. He was suffering from "mental illness" and was dwelling in the streets of Addis Abeba, "where he was also found dead". Clad in shabby clothes, Limenih has been sketching drawings on papers and asked people to buy him.
Limenih was popular among Ethiopian Television viewers for his exotic comedies he acted in trio with the late Alebachew Teka and the late Engdazer Nega. The trio pioneered in developing comedy sketches for the ETV variety show Hibre Treit. Hibre Treit was the only entertainment show on the national TV during the Dergue period.
